Laboratory Technician for High-throughput Screening and Automation Unit

DTU Bioengineering at the Technical University of Denmark invites applications for a position as Laboratory technician for the HT-screening and automation unit, at the Fermentation core.

This position will be placed at the DTU Fermentation core / Yeast Biotechnology and Fermentation research group, both part of DTU Bioengineering, Section of Synthetic Biology. The section's work focuses on gene and genome editing, synthetic biology, regulation engineering, protein production, discovery and production of bioactive compounds across different cell factory types, in particular yeast, filamentous fungi and plant cells.

The job
Your primary role will be to complement the current Fermentation core team within the high-throughput screening, micro-fermentation and automation lab. Your role will be to conduct experiments, to assist 'in-house' researchers as well as external platform customers, and in addition implement and develop high-throughput methodologies for speeding up the design, engineering and screening of superior microbial cell factories.

Moreover, you will be part of the team keeping the equipment up-to-date and running, handling yearly check-ups and system maintenance, training of researchers and project students, and participating in the teaching activities in which the Fermentation core is involved.

Our expectations of you
Our ideal candidate has preferably more than one of the following skills:

  • Experience with liquid handling robots and automation (e.g. HAMILTON, Tecan EVO, or similar) and HPLC.
  • Microbial physiology and molecular biology of microbial strains
  • Fermentation technology.

We are looking for an efficient team worker, who has good communication skills, and a good team-work spirit.

Salary and appointment terms
Salary and appointment terms are in accordance with the OAO-S Joint Agreement and the organization agreement for Office Clerks, Laboratory Technicians and IT staff (HK/stat) signed with the Danish Ministry of Finance.

The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The position is permanent. Expected starting date 1 September 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter.
