Technician Position for Research and Teaching in Biotechnology 1019272

We are currently seeking 1-2 laboratory technicians for the Section for Biological and Chemical Engineering, Department of Engineering, Aarhus University. The positions are available immediately. The working hours are 37 hours per week and the place of employment is Gustav Wieds Vej 10, 8000 Aarhus C.

Responsibilities:
The main tasks of the positions are related to research and teaching in biotechnology as well as organizing and maintaining a well-functioning work environment. The responsibilities for the positions include:

Teaching laboratory exercises in biotechnology, and related educational activities.
Instruction and supervision of bachelor, master and PhD students in the laboratory
Research support for the VIP staff including genetic engineering, cell cultures, purifications, biological screening, molecular work etc.
Maintaining biotechnological laboratory equipment and instrumentation
Ordering and registration of chemicals.
General maintenance of laboratories.
Ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will meet some of the following qualifications:

You probably have an educational background as a laboratory technician, diploma engineer or equivalent.
Some knowledge of, or the ability to learn, genetic manipulations, growing and maintaining cell cultures, general molecular biology techniques (e.g. cloning), enzyme purification and characterization etc.
Knowledge about laboratory safety regulations in particular work with classified biological entities and GMO.

As a person, you are
self-motivated and committed with enthusiasm and interests to the work areas.
Independent and capable of organizing and prioritizing work assignments and work hours.
Fluent in Danish, strong in English and capable of communicating with Danish and international staff and students.
Open minded, flexible and motivated by change, new opportunities and challenges associated with a growing and therefore continuously changing organization.

Our emphasis will be on the candidates ability and desire to contribute to an expanding research section. You will be working closely together with researchers, students and other laboratory technicians.
